I had run by this mountain several times and decided finally decided to go to the top. Its quick and easy but offers spectacular views of Lake Hodges and distant traffic
Walked under I-15, continued around and up Bernardo. Great view of Lake Hodges.
beautiful hike to the top with my dad. great views of lake hodges. saw one other hiker. lots of mountain bikes, but not on the summit trail. recommended for anyone in the area!
Sixth of seven easy San Diego peaks for the day.
Conveniently close to home. Will have to try trailing running it next time.
Pretty day, but wish the views were less cluttered by housing developments. Guess I'm missing the Sierras this winter.
Most memorable climb was right after the fires.. just cross countried straight to the top.
Great local mountain, wish the trail was more direct (steeper)...
This is my default hike when I want to do something quick, easy and close in North County, been to the top about 20 times. Nice views of Lake Hodges and the 15 Freeway and the rest of the sprawl and smog of San Diego county. Nice and easy grade if you want to run down from the summit.
Hazy, overcast day. Trip Report
Very odd hike up the peak after the fires hit the area. It was nice to progressively see the vegetation come back from down under, however. I've hiked to the peninsula from Lake Hodges then up this mountain on this date.. Awesome adventure.
Surprisingly long hike to a relatively low peak. Loved the Felicita Creek area with actual flowing water! RT in a shade over 2 hours to greet the sunrise. Great way to start the day!
I ran up Bernardo Mountain (1,150') under threatning skies: 38 min up. Counted a dozen flashes of lightning.
Nice early morning climb. Full moon at the trailhead, no cars in the parking lot. Excellent, clear day, views forever. Passed by many bikes on the return, parking lot full of bikers. Easy, rewarding hike.
