Great views of San Gorgonio and Big Bear Lake -- more so from the trail than the summit, which had an annoying communications facility that whirred and blocked some of the views.
A group of ten summited while doing an 11-mile section of the PCT. We ascended the N/NW ridge. Some went down the N slope, while most went down the road.
Awesome views of Big Bear Lake.
Did this one with my wife, my sister and brother-in-law, and their dog. No shade the whole way, but great views across the lake to Sugarloaf and San Gorgonio. Couldn't find a register at the top, but did find a Big Bear 7 Summits punch.
Nice run from the cougar crest trail.
This was actually my first Peak Bag since I've gotten into the great passion of the outdoors. Bagged it with my buddy Miah who was in Vegas on some AF TACP training, good times.
Had several Big Bear peaks in mind for the day, started off with Bertha via the regular route from the Discovery Center.
One of three short hikes for the day.
Snow free at the end of January? Welcome to winter 2012. Sweet peak!
Lots of snow -- with Zeus (Z-dog), Erin, and Jon
Good hike done with the wife, carried 50lbs for training, less then 4 hours up and down with at least 30 in picture time
Last of five HPS peaks for the day in the area. Trip Report
Cool views of the lake.
First of several peaks in the area that day.
Did this from the PCT/Holcomb Valley Road intersection along with Delamar Mtn. Nice views from the summit and the PCT along its south side. VERY crowded from the Cougar Crest Trail/PCT junction to the summit.
Cougar Crest Trail to PCT and fire road up to the summit. Great views over Big Bear Lake.
Climbed Bertha for one of our first hikes. On the way back to the car we got caught in an exciting lightning storm.
Cougar Crest Trail to Pct to summit via fire road. Radio towers on top with nice view of Big Bear.
Did San Jacinto next day Coyotes howlin' all night!
I hiked up here in fall 1999 (I think) with Ludwig Wittgenstein (or at least one of his books).
