400 years!Also, of note, that big branch on the ground at bottom-left has probably been laying there like that for 400 years! The wood is so resinous and compact that it is very slow to rot.

Re: 400 years!I'm glad you pointed that out. It is an amazing feeling to walk in the midst of these trees (as I know you know) I think I was in awe most of the time I was in the Wheeler and Charleston bristlecone forests.
