Silvretta storage lake
Piz Buin and Silvrettahorn
SilvrettahornBieler Hoehe is a pass between the villages Galtuer and Partenen in Silvretta / Vorarlberg in Austria. A road leads up from boths sides. In winter the road is closed and it´s only possible to reach Bieler Hoehe by cable-car from Partenen. At Bieler Hohe (2.034 m) is a small village with accomodations (Madlener Haus / Silvrettadorf) where you can stay the whole year round. In summer Bieler Hoehe is destination for motorcyclist, cyclist and tourists who want to enjoy the great panorama above the storage lake "Silvrettastausee". This storage lake is 2 km long and is power supply for the region. In winter the lake is frozen and a ski track is located on the ice. There is a small t-bar-lift for skier, too. In winter you have to use the Vermunt-gondola from Partenen, continued by a drive with a taxi up to Bieler Hoehe.
