Re: Great!Well, this is an El Nino year. A shift in the jet stream bringing with it warm tropical waters north to California and beyond is called El Nino. During the winter months warm ocean waters/air and cold polar air collide over the west coast generating a great deal of rainfall. I think this is an over simplified explanation for the phenomenon, but I don't want to start a big discussion here either.
