After Box Elder, Only the South Peak  Sucess!

Coming down from Box Elder and hit the South Peak. Pretty easy to get there from the top of BE. Didn't have time to hit the SE peak. If I ever come back up here, I'll hit that one.

Wrong Peak

With Craig and Jennilyn. From the Granite Flat trail. We intended on doing Box Elder, but when we reached the high saddle we found a route up to the ridge and thought we were going up Box Elder. Even though we made a mistake it was a good one. This summit has some of the best views in the entire Wasatch and I'm glad we hit it.

Exploration Day  Sucess!

Went trail running/exploring with my dog one day to look for the helicopter crash on North Mountain. Didn't think I was going to go as far as I did. Guess I needed some time to think. Ended up at saddle between Box Elder and White Pine and AF Canyon/Silver Lake. Decided to try to make a loop run instead of going up and down the same trail. Ended up summitting Box Elder. Then realized, I had never done South Box Elder, which I had always wanted to. So I made a little jaunt over there. Ended up doing 15.8 miles in 5 hours 36 minutes with 6,405' elevation gain. Was a beautiful day. Didn't see a single soul the entire time, and never found the helicopter.

Truly good  Sucess!

I went up from Granite Flats campground on trail 044. Both are amazing viewpoints. The fall colors are starting nicely. Thanks to Eric for putting this page up as I was looking for something to do and this filled the bill perfectly since I had all day thursday off. I met one guy doing the loop from the Deer Creek trail (near the old cabin ruins) but saw no one else the rest of the time. Probably due to it being a week day, surely more people visit the area then. My camera is still up there with some nice fall pics. I had it when I left the summit of 10626 but somewhere it decided to find a new home. I may have to make another trip up there next week and retrace my steps. Not a problem as the fall colors should be prime time by then.
