Brach Attack

Brach Attack

This is a fossil brachipod (species unknown) found on a climb at Shelf Road,(Cambrian Manitou Limestone Formation.) The brachiopoda phylum is really amazing and exhitibs bilateral symetry when cut in half, but no symetery when the two sides of the shell are opened. This is completely opposite to other shells that are in the phylum molluska. Most people just fly by this awesome feature, but the hint of chalk marks around the fossil shows that some are interested in the history of the rock that they are climbing.
