A pleasant walk
#1 11-06-22 W/yadahzoemtn. A ton of clouds but at least a view to the north toward Hiawasee was great. This was the completion of a 5-day road trip to tag 6 state highpoints. Traveling through the various Appalachian ranges was truly a blessing because of the beauty and relaxing vistas which seemed to emerge out of nowhere with every curve in the roads. One slightly negative aspect was the fee of &7 per person. In that light, if you have a National Parks pass they will accept it in lieu of the fee.

State HP # 25!
Hiked the Arkaquah Trail, bagging some other named peaks along the way. A little bit breezy out there, but in the trees along the route didn't feel it much. Everything was brown in the mountains, leaves haven't started coming in yet. Views at the top were hazy. Tower still closed but you could go up to an observation platform. 25th tallest State HP for my 25th State HP!

HP# 16
About a month after my first HP trip to the E/NE that got me #s 4-12...It's time for another trip E to NC, but I took a S/SE side trip to get a bunch more HPs. (HP 4 of 7 during this trip). Pretty nice winding road drive up. Short easy hike from parking area to the top. Nice building/tower/platform observation, although the tower and bldg were closed for the season...which included the USGS marker behind a closed door. Great views from the platform though.

High Point #6
Nice little hike with some great views in all directions! Third high point of the day (NC, TN too) w/my dad so pretty special day even with all the driving!
3rd highpoint of the day after a lot of driving (NC, SC first) so I opted to just to drive to the top parking lot. Didn't love that they paved the trail but the views from the top were amazing.

Tropical Storm Claudette caught up with me, so I took the quick 1 mile round trip hike up and back. Parking fee is still $5.

An aggressive stroll
Interesting high point: there are three routes, one entirely by foot (I didn't take), one by car to the parking lot and shuttle to the top (I didn't take), and finally by car to the parking lot and 0.6 mile steep, switchbacked paved trail to the top. I took this one and am glad I did, as I got there at 4:30pm and they were closing at 5:00pm.

State Highpoint #26
I must agree with the author of this page when he says "No matter how you hike it, this is one of the most enjoyable Eastern U.S. highpoints". It just a cool mountain and so unexpected for a non-mountainous state like GA. Huge summit platform/tower gives one access to beautiful views in all directions. I just hiked up the paved trail from the parking lot, didn't use the shuttle bus service.
