Don't let this peak's reputation as the "easiest 4000m in the Alps" fool you. We climbed it on July 15, 2006 and five feet off the track in a smooth flat area two people got swallowed up by an invisible crevasse. They had to be recued by three different helos. The snow was exceedingly soft and I fell in to my thighs several times. The snow felt totally inconsequential. I'll second the view from the top, though. It's beautiful, especially looking East...
