I was in the area to do the Rattlesnake Creek / Ashdown Gorge hike and all of the rim hikes around Cedar Breaks. I thought I might as well go to the highest point while I'm there. There is a paved road nearby so this makes it an easy mountain to climb.
Fall, a few years ago, new to the west, I looked through my AAA atlas & noted an 11,307-ft peak called Brian Head Peak not too far from Vegas.
Driving up there to about 11,000 feet, I hiked to the top via the trail/cross-country combo from the northeast, then drove home, checking out Cedar Breaks on the way.
