Still snow on road...  Sucess!

There are still a few snow drifts that will limit any vehicles... but it's a short stroll to the top, anyway.

Almost embarrassing  Sucess!

Solo. My good sport wife accompanied me on the drive from SLC to a nearly snowless ski resort. After driving to the lower parking area about 1 mile below the summit, I drove back down the gravel road outlined by skiffs of lingering crystal snow so that I could at least get a 4-mile r/t hike out of the deal. In spite of the bright sunshine the wind was more indicative of the season. Next time I might wait until there is more snow and snowshoe from the base of the resort. #2 5-19-12 This time from the base of the resort on leftover snow. Crampons for upper 500'. Zero snow on top. Die Wanderung war fabelhaft aus bestimmtem Grund, von dem ich spaeter reden werde.

Summit Road  Sucess!

Stayed the night in my sister's condo in Brian Head. On the way home to Colorado we drove to the top. The views were expansive.

Family Vacation  Sucess!

I'm pretty sure we drove the whole way, but the view was fantastic! So was the wind!

Too easy

At least bike up...still way to easy. Nice views, but I feel like a sucker. Little creak peak over by painguitch is in this range as well and has far better views and is better hike. No trail but it is fairly open. So if your in the area it is worthwhile.

A great success  Sucess!

I made it. I sent the multiple boulder problems on the sides of the hut.

June Snowstorm  Sucess!

Climbed from the base of Brian Head Peak road in a couple inches of slippery spring snow and howling wind. I wasn't expecting the storm when I came down to southern Utah so I wasn't dressed as warmly as I would've liked. Great views from the top but too cold to enjoy for very long.

Bike Race  Sucess!

Windy on the summit  Sucess!

Summited Brian Head today. My 1st ever ascent in the snow and cold. Great views and very windy on top.

Wonderful country  Sucess!

I couldn't bring myself to drive all the way, so I parked and walked the last 400 feet or so. The Markagunt Plateau is always a nice change of pace from the surrounding deserts.

Short hike  Sucess!

I parked short and cross-country'd it to the top. Repeated again with my wife in July 2007, driving to the top.

Way too easy!  Sucess!

I drove to the top. I really enjoyed the view north to the Tushars and southeast towards Escalante.

walked up the road  Sucess!

We drove to within two thirds of a mile from the top and parked where a snow drift was still blocking the road. My son Lance (age 15), Skyler Sudweeks (15) and my daughter Tori (8) hiked with me to the top. On the way down, I had them hike south off the peak and I picked them up where their route intersected the dirt road. A year later I was up here again with my Dad (70) on July 27, 2005. No snow that time so we drove all the way up. Sidney Peaks (11,060) is another nice peak hike just 2.25 miles to the northeast of Brian Head. I led a hike up that one with a bunch of Boy Scouts and their leaders (17 people total) on June 11, 2003.

Great area  Sucess!

We had a family reunion at the Brianhead lodge and simply walked up to the summit of this easy peak. Nearby Cedar Breaks Nat'l Monument really makes this a great area and worth a visit.

Did it again on Aug 16th, 2006, with my son who had not visited the top nor experienced the view. That oversight was corrected on our trip to get the county highpoints of Kane and Washington counties.
