This is no April Fool's joke. I really did make it to the highest point in Florida.

Highpoint #16
The start of a "3 pack" weekend hitting Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi, while on a project assignment in the southeast.

whirlwind trip continues
Another drive up… it was late when I got there, and the moon was big and bright in the sky. A couple sat on their horribly dented car in the parking lot while listening to the radio at a really loud level. Quick run to the "summit" and snapped a picture and then back in the car to make Tallahassee for the night.
to take a picture that would make this look like an achievement :). When I went to Panama City Beach to sign up for the ironman, I figured its worth the extra hour or two to get to the high point .

Top of the world!
Enjoyed the drive and the trails, had the "summit" and park all to myself. Spent a few minutes watching the world roll by...

Pretty nice forest area behind the park. Found some salamanders, lizards, and centipedes while walking around in there in the early evening. Nice country.

Start small, work my way up!
In my home state, also Highpoint #1. Yes, that's right i figured i had to start at home, well i live far away from the Panhandle, but still, it's technically FL. It was the beginning of my first highpointing roadie. As far as Britton Hill, HAHA!!

Nothing Much There
HP #20. Oh the slow speeds on the area is enough to turn my hair gray. Just took a photo and left. Part of Thanksgiving Long Weekend high pointing trip on 7 Southern States: AL, TN, GA, SC, NC, FL, MS.

Because it's there...
I smile when I remember that the reason people put their lives on the line to summit Mt Everest is the same reason I diverted my journey to Pensacola to include this out-of-the-way state highpoint. Visiting Florida in November is a good idea and this is just the kind of quirky stop-off I love to include in my road trips.

Into Thick Air
Was hoping for some relief from the heat and humidity at the summit, but alas, no luck. I did enjoy the solitude and did a lap on the trails that start behind the stone monument. #45 for me. Hard to believe this counts the same as Granite and Gannett!

#41Little did I know I would get this into state highpoints.
I was close to a breaking point at work and my wife chased me out the door to get away.
Figured I had only 3 left east of Colorado, so I hit it: AL, MS, FL.
This was the last stop before Pensacola Beach. Took the trail from behind the marker into the woods for a ways. Not bad.
