My brother Bruce shows the fatigue of our approach to the Enchantments via the Crystal Creek route. The night before we had made a camp where we had no water available. We were a bit parched by the time we found water again. A story in itself. 1973

Like the picture!

I've been scanning slides from the 70s and found many with backpacks from this era! No chest straps remember? Some didn't even have waist straps and we used belts. You captured quite a bit of feeling in this pic too! Thank you for sharing this one.---Kathy

Kathy, thanks for your votes and comments. Yes, these pictures are really bringing back the memories. Everything was HEAVY in those days and the concept of lightweight didn't exist. Even a weekend pack would weigh 45 pounds and our boots would weigh in at near ten pounds. No sternum straps, no
water bladders, no filters, no thermarest, no silnylon, no helmets, etc. Yet, it was a great time to be in the mountains.
