dogwoodSpecifically, it's probably canadian dogwood a.k.a. bunchberry. (Cornus Canadensis)
Leaf number can vary - I mostly see them with four equal leaves, but a Google image search on "bunchberry" turns up lots with six equal leaves, and a few with six unequal leaves like these.

yep supposed to be on West Coast too.check back later in the season for clusters of little red berries
You are right about cool, soil needs to maintain <65F to grow.
