I took my Mom on a hiking expedition in the Sooke Hills; we were trying to get to Bert Lake, but didn't find a trail, so we ended up bushwhacking for about 1.5 km. over cliffs and through dense salal. There's Mom in the center of the photo, trying to climb over a log.

Ah, the famous Bert Lake

Little more than a pond and yet it has a name. I haven't been able to find out where the name came from. But it's a thrash whichever way you go.

Good to see Sooke Hills bush on SP. Thanks for posting.
