Buttress

Buttress

This buttress leads to a point about 100 vertical feet below the summit of the Diamond but is separated from the Diamond itself by a notch. From the notch, climb a snow headwall or low Class 5 rock to gain the rest of the elevation. Climbing the buttress itself entails mostly Class 3 to low 5 scrambling. The more you stay on the crest, the harder the climbing is. To the right of the buttress is a gully that, when snow-free, is Class 2 (it made a good descent route). Snowy Range, WY-- July 2010
