bypassing the snow

We encountered this snow immediately after straight the down climb to Redgap Pass. Fortunately, we were able to make some class III moves along the left edge of the snow on mostly dry rock. If we had been here a week or two earlier, we probably would have turned around. Do not attempt the goat trail if it is completely blocked by snow unless you are equipped with ice axe, crampons and rope. July 19, 2010
