fall fun
Had a great scramble up the north ridge with friends Tim and Matt. We approached via Grizzly Creek and had the lake to ourselves. A bit of fall weather made for some snow and ice that added to the scenery and difficulty. A fantastic summit for sure.

Struck out
Attempted the peak via Canyon Creek Trail, but stopped about 1,500 feet short. We underestimated it. This is a one or two day climb only for a superstar. For the rest of us mortals, better to do a three day with two nights at Canyon Creek, with one day devoted to the peak. There is a lot of off-trail travel and boulder climbing above Upper Canyon Creek. It's very slow. None of the climbing we did in those lower areas was too technical though, so it is pretty doable even for a climber with minimal climbing experience. Great area overall... I want to take another crack at this one at some point, maybe up from the Grizzly Lake.

The Back Way...
Hiked up to x-country to Little South Fork Lake and set off the next day underneath the broken Cesar Cap Glacier to the north ridge. Easy class 2 scrambling lead to the summit.

Canyon Creek
Great fall hike up the Canyon Creek trail. Fantastic falls colors, and spendid nights spent at Ripstein Campground and Upper Canyon Creek Lake.
