Thank you very much. It's a pretty area that kind of looks distinct from rest of Red Rocks. Nice little canyons with beautiful pools of water - real pretty stuff.

Thank you for the good vote

RPC, nice page. Funny, too... I climbed the Great Red Book about 8 years ago and had totally forgotten about it until I saw these pictures....

THank you for the good comments and vote. It's a pretty fun route, right? Most other cragging areas (I'm thinking of Smith as an example here) this would be like a "5-star ultraclassic"...but in RR, it's just one of so many.

Nice page Radek. Looks like a sweet route. I can see where it got its name. Just by looking at the photos, it reminds of Tuolumne's Great White Book on Stately Pleasure Dome.--Natasha

Thanks Natasha.

Yeah, you guys would enjoy this route - it makes for a nice rest day as it's short (and sweet) and has a pretty short approach (up and down in time for brunch and before the crowds arrive :)

Though we've never climbed there (only saw photos), the rock on some sections reminds me of Indian Creek - sort of smooth and orangy-purple in color.

So when are you headed out there? Last time we spoke you mentioned April - is that right?

talk to you later

Highest Point

Hey Radek. Regarding your comment on the main page about the highest point of Calico Hills, etc, from my observations (coupled with what topozone is showing), the high point is c. 4925 feet atop Red Cap (aka - Turtlehead Junior), a locally-named feature not too far from Sandstone Quarry. By its easiest route, the highpoint can be gained 3rd class. Nice page, by the way.

Edit: I feel a little schleppy voting 8/10 in light of all the other 10/10's, but in keeping with the new voting guidelines...
