Hi Bart,

thank you for this picture, at the canaleta I was totally exhausted and I was not thinking of taking pictures at all. I conclude from your picture that at the right-side of the Canaleta there is a sort of a trail. I obviously chose the wrong track, wasting my scarce energy on the loose scree in the middle of the Canaleta!

Yep, there's sort of a path full of big rocks and at this time some patches of snow and ice. I used my crampons on the last bit of that. You get there if you go straight up at the beginning of the Canaleta (keep right along the wall). If you go left, as you did directly towards the summit, you will have to climb the part, which others use to surf down the Canaleta. I was actually enjoying the Canaleta with its tumbling rocks, snow and ice. However, at the beginning of it, I noticed my fingertips were feeling really cold and strange. I had that strange feeling for 3 weeks after summiting.
