Canyonlands Confluence

This is the confluence of the Green River (left) and the Colorado River in Canyonlands National Park, UT, as seen from the Needles District of the park. To the north (straight ahead and to the right in the image) is Island in the Sky District of the park. Candlestick and Junction Butte are also seen (best on large image), as is Ekker Butte (to the left in the image). This site is accessible from the Confluence Overlook Trail, which begins 4.2 miles away in Big Spring Canyon. For those prepared to drive over the 4WD Elephant Hill Trail (rated 6), the trail to the overlook is 0.5 miles. Imaged in May 2010.
