One Of The Best!  Sucess!

I celebrated my birthday with a successful summit attempt of one of the least summited peaks in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. The terrain, although not overly technical, is not for the faint at heart because a lot of variety occurs on the route. The stream crossings have the potential to be menacing, but in my case the many snow-wells encountered on the forested ridge were horrible to unexpectedly plunge through and injure my legs. Due to the thick frozen snow during the final 30' to the summit, we had to setup a belay system for safety reasons. Great glissading on the western ridge and in the gully leading back to Gouging Lake! A great day!
