When I watch these orange lines of the Ordnance Survey maps, I am invaded by an unexplainable kind of nostalgy... I suddenly see myself reaching some lost trailhead in the upper end of a glen, a beautful path elevating in the heather, the jingling melody of the frozen stream, the smell of burnt peat from the chimneys of the cottages nearby, the winter sun near the horizon...
I believe it's been great in Scotland. Down here, we've had around two weeks of good conditions, then three days of intense thaw when everything melted, and now it's cold again and the snow is back. God I hope it stays like this!
