Denver Social Climb. We climbed somewhere on the east rim, I don't know exactly where. It was a pretty tough wall: plenty of conglomerate and some pockets, but some inconvenient caves we had to deal with. So I had to cheat a hangdog a bit.

In my neighborhood
Great little hidden gem not far from Denver. It's nice to get out of town, and not necessarily go to the high country. There are wonderful hikes that offer unique landscape and scenery.
CMC Basic Mountaineering Second Second Rock Day. We returned to do some more rappelling practice. It was windy and cold. I didn't wear a chest harness while passing the knot, and nearly wore myself out. Then, I tied too many loops on my autoblock and got stuck on the rope on my second rappel. I managed to fix that (with help from the instructors), and got to the bottom, so I could ascend with prusiks. Lastly, I rappelled with a Munter Hitch. That went fine.
CMC Basic Mountaineering School Second Rock Day. We practiced some rappelling and climbing techniques: ascending with prusiks and passing the knot. The wall was pretty crowded, but it was a great day.

Nice Area
Got word that it was nicer south of Denver, so headed for Castlewood and was able to get a couple of fun climbs in. I'll definitely be making a trip or 2 here when the weather is cold.

Great close to home outing
This is a great outing close to home. Except for the fact that one of my leashed dogs got attacked by an offleash Husky somewhat attended to by a foul-tempered, cussing redneck, the day was a joy.
Have hiked most if not all of the trails throughout the State Park. Was a nice walk for us when my wife was pregnant and couldn't do the high altitude and steep stuff.
I've been climbing and hiking the canyon since it opened in the 90s as a state park. Its a great place to train for any reason...unless you like the TV in front of the treadmill at the rec center? Cheers!
This is truely an awesome place to climb. I have visted this area countless times and will continue to return as long as I can struggle my way up the rock.
