Cathedral Rock

Cathedral Rock

Cathedral Rock is located at the Sheep Rock Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds. to reach the destination one would drive on Hwy.26 past Mitchell, Oregon from the west, or drive past Dayville from the east until reaching the signs stating Sheep Rock and the John Day Fossil Beds. The best times to really see the beautiful colors and layers of the rock is at sunrise as the sun passes across the face of the rock. Parking is beyond Cathedral Rock in a wide pullout, and is seldom used that early in the morning.
