Cave Entrance 205

Cave Entrance 205

I found this ungated cave entrance along the Sal Hallow Trail, about a quarter mile east of Sal Hallow. It's easily visible from a stream crossing on the trail (the stream exits the cave). It's marked "205" by an Interior Department survey marker. The picture looks into the cave from the start of the entrance. You can see the full setting here. I don't know anything about the entrance, and it's not on my map. It may or may not connect to anything. It's against park regulations to enter a cave without a permit. Contact Mammoth Cave National Park for more information. Photo taken November 2008.

if you squint

the brownish-greyish part does indeed look like a woolly mammoth :)

Re: if you squint

I'm not saying it isn't.

Apparently I have some skills in cryptozoological photography.
