August 12, 2011 Cecret Lake, Wasatch National Forest , Utah (N40° 34' 18", W111° 37' 17")
Cecret Lake is a beautiful lake located in Wasatch National Forest near Salt Lake City, Utah with an elevation 9, 220 feet above sea level
We drove up Little Cottonwood Canyon road for 11 miles to a parking lot on the left side of the road just before the Albion Basin Campground.
Sugarloaf Peak
From here we followed a marked up trail to Cecret Lake. The 1 mile trail to the lake has a pretty steady grade with about 0.5 mile loop around a beautiful lake with red rocks and boulders and the Sugarlof Peak in the background.
Since this is an only 2.5 miles trail we continued our hike to the Sugarlof Peak. When we reached the saddle to the Sugarloaf Peak, we noticed clouds and rain above Sugarloaf Peak so we turn to the east to summit Mount Baldy instead.
Mount Baldy
The trail continued through a beautiful field of wildflowers. This short unmaintained trail in some portion with a steep ridge summits Mt. Baldy at an elevation 11,068 ft.
Overall distance is approximately 4.5 miles with a total elevation gain from the parking lot to Mt. Baldy is 1,658 ft.
