Fun snowy hike
After helping 4 girls get there car out of a lot of snow I headed up. I've been working on acclimatizing since I moved from Ohio. Got some ice ax training. First real snowy ascent

Chief Mountain Trail
An easy hike with my wife on a beautiful winter day. After summiting, we made our way over to Papoose to add a third peak to our weekend of mountain hikes.

Standard Route Solo
Was heading up high to get some peaks but realized at the Evergreen exit my boots were sitting next to the front door! What an idiot! Decided to head up and do Chief, Warrior and Squaw Mnts knowing I could do them in sneakers on this sunny day. Some nice rocks on the tops of these peaks.

Easy Fun
Very nice mini real mountain...spruce/fir, krummholtz, tundra, rocks on top, honest summit, killer views, minor effort...what's not to like?

Close to Denver
quick 2 miles each way. Did in early April and the snow was packed down enough to stay afloat on it with minimal post holing. Awesome views on the top. Great for people visiting CO. Doesn't seem to get much traffic.

Late Day Summit
Flew home to Denver early enough to get a late afternoon summit of an old favorite. Carried up the skis, made for a quick descent.

Deep snow
Climbed after Squaw & Papoose. Did not find the trail and ended up laboring through crotch deep snow on Chief's northeast slopes. Maybe the trail was burried in deep snow or maybe I just couldn't find it.

Chief Mountain Trail
This was my 4th or 5th time on Chief. It was a nice day for a snowshoe. The snow was good 'til treeline, where it was mostly blown away. It was breezy, but not brutally windy like it had been the past week or so. I had not gotten Papoose yet, so I decided to head over there afterward.

An island in the Front Range
Sits in a cool location between the Evans Group and the lower Indian Peaks. An easy after work hike but the standard trail is north facing and melts off late in the year.

Easy Acclimation for Flatlanders
After a long drive from KC on Saturday, I hit Chief's east ridge from Squaw Pass Road. It's a big jump from 1,000' to 11.7k', but Chief has nice easy trails, just the right amount of switchbacks and the tiniest of scrambles at the top makes it fun even on tired lungs.
Round-trip was two hours with at least 20 minutes on the summit. Winds were strong but inconsistent, which was a big plus considering the exposed summit block. Awesome views to the north and west!
5/2/10: Took the trail up Chief than traversed over Papoose to Squaw and back down the Squaw Mtn Road to my car. Also climbed a few of the other easy access peaks off the Squaw Pass Road, lots of peaks available for little effort on this road!
12/8/12: Repeat with Papoose and Squaw, also climbed Warrior and PT 11060.
