Popular hike... can't imagine what it's like on a summer weekend. Lots of inconsiderate dog owners and smelly bags of dog poop on the trail. Views (especially to the north and west) were pretty darn good, though - the final scramble to the top was a much-welcomed bonus. Tagged after Warrior.
Nice little hike near Denver with a very short rock scramble to get on the summit. Very popular trail with lots of people.
Staying in Idaho Springs - simple hike from there. Started up the road to the lookout tower and next to the entrance to the old road running below Chief.
Gorgeous sunny day, good views from top.
Combo with Squaw and Papoose. Easy round trip hike on a sunny May morning. Just a little bit of snow on the Chief Mountain Trail.
This is the 2nd time my daughter brought me here and hiked with my son and daughter. The 360 view is unbelievable!
Trail was well packed. Snowy and windy day, but it only hits you up on the summit. Nice and quick bit of exercise and acclimatization if you just got in town.
Great summit with good views
This is a quick hike, but there is a nice bolder patch at the summit where you can sit and get great looks of the surrounding valleys and Mt. Evans. The drive up is a good way to view the changing colors of the aspens.

Hiked up the Chief Mountain Trail with Maria. Plenty of hikers on the trail. It's been unseasonably warm this November, so people were taking advantage of the weather. We could see a fire burning to the north: big flames, but it didn't seem to spread. We decided to climb up Papoose on the way back.
Showshoe with Maria. There was plenty of snow, though it was thinner above treeline, thanks to the wind. We had light snow for most of the hike, and it was a little breezy above treeline. We tried going for Papoose on the way back, but snow on the rocks made footing difficult. Maybe some other time.
North Slopes route.
With LeeAnne, Ash, Chloe, Morgan, and Jacob.
CMC Trip. There were 4 of us. The original plan was to hike up Goliath Peak, but there was some S&R activity going on up there, so the trip was shifted to Mt Sniktau, but the weather was not supposed to cooperate, so we settled for the Chief Group. The weather was actually pretty good, almost too warm below treeline, and a little windy above. Still a fair amount of snow on the ground, but snowshoes were not absolutely necessary. We tagged Chief, then headed over to Papoose.
All snow except summit
This was a great day. Snow on the trail was nicely broken in.
Blue sky day, no wind. Great day!
With rkymtn. Ran into friend on the trail. Lovely January day.
After helping 4 girls get there car out of a lot of snow I headed up. I've been working on acclimatizing since I moved from Ohio. Got some ice ax training. First real snowy ascent
