The Chinati Mountains SNA is, in fact, a part of the TX State Parks system, however, there are no servcies or maintenance actively being done. Management of the SNA is currently with Big Bend Ranch SP. The summit itself was not owned by the state, however, it appears that the owner has recently donated a large tract of land, which likely includes the summit, to Texas. Things are looking up!

Untitled CommentI added the information about camping in the ranch.
FM-2810 does run between Marfa and Ruidosa. Presidio is down the road on FM-170

Untitled CommentCheck out the Scott Surgent link I added. It talks about the river road, and has some good pictures of the area.

Untitled CommentThe 60-mile stretch of road between Marfa and Ruidosa is known as the Pinto Canyon Road"
I think you mean Presidio rather than Ruidoso. Ruidoso is in NM.
Nope, although Ruidoso is in New Mexico, Ruidosa IS in Texas, at the end of FM 2810 near the Mexico border.

Untitled CommentThere is camping at a "resort" of sorts called Chinati Hot Springs Resort. Information can be found at:
http://www.chinatihotsprings.com/index.html
it's fairly primative but they have some cabins, mineral baths, a bathroom but no showers. I think they do allow camping.
A map can be found on the website listed above.
