Chopicalqui glacier camp, around 5450m
Although most people camped here, I believe that higher is better in this case.
Next morning we started in darkness, and I learned that, without a trail to follow, it's not easy to find a route in the area right above our camp. We ran out of time.
When I returned, a month later, we camped above the difficulties, at around 5600m. From there, the first bit is relatively easy. The route finding problems only start a few hours later, when you have to figure out how to climb the steep summit formations. But by then, the onset of dawn can shine some light on the matter.
