Pond Just Before Clarice?Somehow, this strikes me as the pond before you reach Lake Clarice proper -- is this possible? Lake Clarice has a small rocky island with trees. http://www.panoramio.com/photo/14208888 No matter what, you were brave to scramble up here so early. Did you snowshoe?

Re: Pond Just Before Clarice?There would be the island with trees to the right of the picture. Unfortunately under 2-3 feet of snow things looked way different than the last time I was there. This was taken directly beside where the waterfall cascades down to Hell Roaring. I had to follow it up due to the lack of a trail.... errr, I should say the trail was under a lot of snow. As for snowshoes, negative, this was me and my Merrils against the elements. :P

Great View, Still Vote PondI'm still gonna' vote view from pond as you don't get to see the little nubbin of Dave's Peak once you reach shores of Clarice. Perspective of Finger of Fate also differs. But, a great view. I'll stop, already!!! Thanks for sharing pics!

Re: Great View, Still Vote PondYou may very well be correct. I plan on going up later in the year once the snow melts to explore behind the Finger at the 3 unnamed lakes (hopefully some fishing). Hopefully then I'll be disproved. :) I do enjoy the shots you linked me to... it's always nice to see other people pics of the area.
