Day Hike via Jewel Lake  Sucess!

Parked at the 2wd TH and started hiking at around 8:30 am. Forecast called for clear skies and though there were a few clouds, none came together. Used the nice Jewel Lake trail. After Jewel Lake, climbed to the saddle and then south to Clark Peak. Summitted around 11:00 am. Back to the TH around 1:15.

Second Time  Sucess!

Went back for another 10 day trip here. This time, we approached Clark from Island Lake. It took us two and a half hours to make it to the top from Island Lake. Awesome views! May as well tag the little peak just to the north of Clark.

Via a Backpacking Trip  Sucess!

Started at the Rawah Trailhead and backpacked for 10 days in the Rawah Wilderness. There was a TON of snow still and we hiked on snow every single day. When we did Clark, we camped close to Blue Lake and too the prominent NE ridge of Clark. It was brutally windy and cold, but well worth it. The summit view is incredible!!

via Jewel Lake  Sucess!

The road to the Jewel Lake TH is getting pretty bad. Should have hiked all the way instead of risking damage to truck. Anyway, nice weather on a 5-mile afternoon hike. Didn't see anyone above the trailhead.

From Jewell Lake TH  Sucess!

I had a beautiful day and was the only one on the summit. I felt I could have driven much farther in my Subaru, in fact, all the way to the trailhead. So it was a much longer hike. I saw my first moose in Colorado on the way out crossing the road in front of me.

Route Climbed: North East Ridge  Sucess!

Camped a bit below the Blue Lake Pass. Then hiked up the north east ridge. Not a difficult ridge at all. Mostly just a alpine hike. It was fun to look over the cliffs and look toward South Rawah Peak. Also great fishing in the pond south on the creek from Blue Lake. Saw a beautiful group of Ptarmigan hiding among some rocks near the summit.

Route Climbed: Jewell Lake Date Climbed: Sept 24, 2005  Sucess!

My friend drove all the way to within 1/2 mile of the 4wd TH on the west side, which made for a short 6 mile hike round trip beginning at 10K'. An easy, fun hike with great views of the Never Summers and Mummy ranges. We also picked up unranked Pt 12654' on the way up and descended the southeast slopes making for a nice loop hike.

Route Climbed: via Cameron Pass Date Climbed: 5/15/00  Sucess!

Climbed this namesake peak for my thirty-third birthday. Beautiful hike in to a col below the summit where the mosquitos were vicious...we watched a party above putting on rain gear and frantically waving their arms in the air...only to find when we got there why...great ski descents abound in the area.

Route Climbed: North Ridge Date Climbed: August 31, 2003  Sucess!

A massive cold front hit northern Colorado this Labor Day Weekend so my chances of reaching the summit were uncertain. I awoke Sunday morning to the find that the summit was completely socked in. However, it wasn't raining so I decide to go for it. I was into the clouds at 11,500 ft and couldn't see more than 200 ft in any direction for the remainder of the hike. It was an interesting day, but I would have prefered clear skies so I could have taken in what I bet is an impressive view from the summit.
