Yeah, probably. Although, my Petzl Micro (my only headlamp at the time) puts out about the same lumens as a glowstick, so there really wasn't much tradeoff. Of course, you don't have to cup a headlamp in your hand to keep from being blinded...
Leaving the headlamp behind was more on principle, I think.
In late June of 2004, I climbed Matterhorn Peak with 3 other friends. We were all fit and hiked in daylight hours. RT was about 13 hours. There was little 'down time'. So, you guys ascended the peak at an average speed of just over 2mph...much of it in the dark. Wow.

hee hee!a glow stick, that's awesome! But...isn't a modern led headlamp actually less bulky and the same weight as a glowstick?
