climbed it after attempting the cathedral traverse. the whole thing is 5.easy, but extremely exposed on 2 sides
traversed over from Unicorn. Good route finding and easy and fun exposure.
The east summit (as described by Secor as the "knife edge") is the high point, the west summit is 2 feet lower. Climbed with Mike Chen up the wide chimney (to the right of the narrow chimney) on the west face, ending with a short 5.6 face climb to a platform immediately south of the summit. The summit pinnacle itself is class 4.
W/ Gene. Piton on summit.
Went up the Class 4 route that felt slightly harder and descended another Class 5 that would have been harder to upclimb - never very exposed though. Part of Cathedral Traverse.
Linked Echo Peaks, Echo Ridge, Cockscomb and Unicorn.
Did both summits. Did cockscomb, unicorn, echo peaks and echo ridge mid week on a day off work
From Unicorn, up some crack that felt like 4th or easy 5th, then through a gap to the other side to traverse to the summit. Trip report
Fun day. Solo.
Nice afternoon scramble from the Cathedral Lakes trailhead.
Probably did something different than what was in the route page, but it was fun nonetheless.
This was a day outing to traverse part of the Cathedral traverse. We hit Unicorn, and then this. Great day! All 5.easy soloable stuff if you're comfortable at mid fifth.
One very fun pitch up the east face to a beautiful view. I'm guessing it was about 5.6 or so.
Traversed Echo, Cockscomb and Unicorn. A wonderful day in Yosemite.
Approached from the north ridge and came under the large east face and around the southern edge of the Cockscomb, went up the large chute at the southern edge of the west face and scrambled through the towering ramparts toward the summit. A few technical moves to gain the summit. Maybe a little more difficult than Unicorn Peak but just as fun. A solid rush.
Opted out of the 5.6 downclimb after finding crumbly rock.
Climbed both summits. Part of Cathedral Peak/Eichorn Pinnacle/Echo Ridge/Cockscomb/Unicorn Peak traverse loop.
Came around from unicorn/althuski and then on to the Echo Ridge and Echo Peaks after summiting the Cockscomb. The Cockscomb was definitely the highlight of an awesome day!
Followed the rige around from Unicorn and climbed a line on the backside. Kind of neat coming over the top and rapping/climbing down the regular route
