Coffeepot Rock & "The Red Hags"

Coffeepot Rock (far left) and "The Red Hags" (unnamed crags), as seen from approximately 1/4-mile up the Soldier Pass Trail near Sedona, Arizona. The green object in the foreground is a blooming manzanita branch. Today, Soldier Pass Trail still has much to offer, in spite of civilization with its nearby housing & commercial jeep tours running along part of the route. There's a number of geologic oddities along the way, including a sinkhole at a quarter mile, a set of seven deep creek-bed pools at two-thirds of a mile, and a series of sandstone arches at a turnoff at one mile. Did one of them red hags wink at you? March 11, 2009

Besides the white spots on the rhododendron-looking manzanita, I can even spot some gray spots: 13/10

Wow! Thanks Sir Larry of A-dry-Zona, lofty heights suit me fine unless too far from timberline.

But seriously, I do appreciate the verbal description you often give: the geology/graphy and history - all this turns a pic into a tiny-area/rock page and IMHO mtn/rockpages should form the core of SP, although photographic art lovers may question this point [:)?]

BTW As to my very personal;) wink - and below your photo here it just can't be said it's 'off-topic':), can it? No witch's gonna halt me any more Larry, wearing red won't help either! Better dead than red still holds in this area!:)
