Cook Peak

Cook Peak We drove to Mountain Mesa and made our way up McCray Road to Cook Peak Road. We took the twisty dirt road all the way up to the parking area. Daylight was diminishing, but we had to keep stopping to remove large stones from the road. We exited the vehicle, and followed the trail to the top of Cook Peak (5403'). We got to see Lake Isabella, the dam, and the sunset over the Kern River Valley. The total distance was .4 miles with an elevation gain of 200 feet.
