Corno Grande, Calderone Glacier 2

Corno Grande, Calderone Glacier 2

4th september 2004. The higher part of Calderone Glacier, seen from the glacier front. Calderone is a little "black glacier", the more southern of Europe. In the last decades it became a debris-covered glacier: its extinction is near, but till 70 years ago it had a thickness of dozens of meters Click here to see some pictures of Calderone Glacier in the years 1935-1960) It's incredible how climate has changed!
