Before it was crowded  Sucess!

First time Ana and I hiked down into the gulch was Nov 25, 2012. We did an in and out hike just for the day, not completing the whole thing.

May 10, 2014 - Peter, Brooke, Ryan, and I hiked Coyote Gulch from the Crack in the Wall down into the gulch then upstream to the Jacob Hamlin Arch (is the exit called the moki steps???), and cross country (at 100 degrees) back to the car. The hike took us 12 hours total time. The night before we camped at the Crack in the Wall Parking lot, and second night at Red Wash(?). We had planned to camp in the gulch, and carried all the gear for it, but the hike went faster than planned, plus the forecast was for rain so we did the prudent thing and exited the same day.

very nice!  Sucess!

In 19 October via Red Well TH, out 21 October via 'Crack in the Wall' to FortyMile Ridge TH. We climbed up and over JH Arch, and hiked up to opening of Stevens Arch too.

GOR. GEOUS.  Sucess!

We started late, almost at 13:00 from the Jacob Hamblin TH and we descended the slick rock down the fin right next to Jacob Hamblin Arch. We hiked upstream a bit to get a better vantage of the arch, and then we started downstream. Just before the confluence with the Escalante, we hiked up to the rim via Crack-in-the-Wall and then exited via the Forty Mile Ridge TH. Hike back from exit to entrance trailhead was uneventful, but there was a gorgeous sunset!

Red Well TH   Sucess!

Hiked in to the bend prior to Jacob Hamblin Arch from Red Well TH. Set up camp for two nights with a group of five great friends. Hiked towards the Escalante confluence on day 2, but had trouble identifying the correct route at the large rock jam. Ended up taking a high trail (part of the Crack-in-the-Rock Trail) for fine views of the confluence with the Escalante and Stevens Arch high above. Returned to Red Well TH on day 3. Marvelous area, one that I'll certainly return to some day.

Coyote Gulch  Sucess!

I've hiked Coyote Gulch twice and expect to return soon. One of the best back country hikes ever.

Coyote Gulch  Sucess!

Take it easy and spend a few days in the canyon. Head all the way to the confluence with the Escalante and make time to explore...It's worth it.

One of my favs  Sucess!

I've done this one twice now (both times as a "trail" run). Fantastic scenery, beautiful, beautiful canyon. Highly recommended.

Loop  Sucess!

Started at Jacob Hamblin trailhead, but instead of the trail towards the arch, we went cross-country towards Chimney Rock until we intersected Hurricane Wash. Speaking of which, we had near-hurricane-force gusts and steady 40-50mph winds that first day, with hailstone-sized rocks airborne to head level pelting us at times. Camped a bit upstream of JH arch. Next night camped just above the pour-off (what a dangerous bypass route) by the Crack-in-the-Wall exit, which we went up the next day. Hitched a ride to save the final half hour of slogging along the sandy road back to JH trailhead. Saw a lot of reptiles, it's fun to have a herpetologist friend.

Trips with Brian  Sucess!

Love this place! Done it a couple of times...I'll never forget looking over the edge at the top and saying "Dead horse point is CRAP" (comparatively speaking). Just awesome.

Precious  Sucess!

This was my second tour of the gulch. I love this place...even if we did see 3 rattle snakes that tried to get us...just kidding. They left us alone. Great hike and canyon.

Loved it!  Sucess!

Parked at the water tank off of Forty Mile Ridge, descended at Jacob Hamblin Arch. Hiked down past Cliff Arch, then back, and came out at Jacob Hamblin Arch. Amazing day, saw only a couple of people.

One Day Loop Hike  Sucess!

We started at Hurricane Wash down to Coyote Gulch on to the Escalante, exited Crack in the wall and took Fortymile Road back to the car all in a day. Amazing area, I couldn't believe how lush and wet the Gulch was.

Coyote Gulch  Sucess!

I remember the days when my car was the only one in the parking lot for days and nobody else was ever seen in the canyon.

Went down the crack and the sand slide and up Coyote Gulch and exited the escape route right next to Jacob Hamlin Arch. Great loop

via Red Well  Sucess!

went in at Red Well and camped out on the far side of Jacob Hamblin Arch. Hiked down to the Escalante River and then upstream to view Stevens Arch and back to camp. Then hiked out on the third day. Very nice trip.

Yo  Sucess!

Hiked from the tank on fourty mile ridge trail, down to jacob hamblin arch (fantastic) then up to the confluence of Hurrican wash and Dry fork, then down to the Escalante, past Coyote Bridge and side arch and some ruins, very amazing place, lots of good camping sites and running water! Exited via crack in the rock then had to trudge all the way back to my vehicle. 6 hours in the canyon, one hour trudge along the road. This is a great hike.

Coyote Gulch  Sucess!

I took some friends on a leisurely 3-day loop trip from the Fortymile Ridge water tank cross country to Hurricane Wash, then down through Coyote Gulch, exiting at Crack in the Wall and via the road back to the water tank. The gulch is absolutely beautiful, with an abundance of good campsites. One of the best backpacks I've ever done. Coyote Gulch got high marks from my buddies, too.
