Coyote in The Blue Ridge

A Coyote is caught by my remote, heat activated crittercam on The Morgan Branch trail. Coyote started showing up in this area in 2000. Watauga Reserve, Stone Mountain, Upper Unakas, Western Blue Ridge Mountains, Cherokee National Forest, Tennessee, USA. June 2007.

That's interesting ...

How much do those "crittercams" cost?

Do you have to obtain a special permit to
get one, or are they available to the
general public ???

It's a Deer Cam. Mine uses real film, and it was $60.00. I bought it online. They sell digital cams but they are about $2-300.00. I had 2 of them set up but one malfunctions(not a deercam, different inferior brand), and the other was mauled by a black bear twice and then disappeared. In this area, no permit is required. It is a Wilderness Management area that is rarely walked, except for the occasional deer or turkey hunter who must have a permit.
