As always

a terrific report Bob.... awesome information and photos of a place that's practically in my back yard. I've paddled those waters many times yet learned so much from this... let's get out and do it together this spring!!!

Re: As always

You're on! That would be much easier to work out than a Shenandoah outing, too. With two cars, maybe we could shuttle between Fisherman's Eddy and Angler's Inn or even farther downstream. I hear there's a put-in a little past 495 off the Clara Barton.

Re: Spent .....

Thanks for checking it out. If you ever find yourself back this way again, I've got a boat to spare or you can have someone to chew out on a climb!

Catfish...

that snake is braver than me... I wouldn't eat anything out of the Potomac.

Re: Catfish...

Kinda what I think whenever I see the anglers there.

I like...

I like your thoughts about parenthood...specifically that you didn't go from 5.4 to nuthin', but 5.4 to 5.2. :D

Lakes

Of course I have to vote for this, because Bob is an elf. Ha ha!

But seriously, I've long pondered how to combing cragging around Lake Mead (NV/AZ) with kayaking. You might replace a 120 mile drive, much on iffy roads, with a 3 mile kayak trip... or not. The winds and waves are pretty bad for most non-motorized forms of open-water travel.

Re: Lakes

That stinks to know. One of the appeals to me about our possible move to Vegas last year was kayaking on Lake Mead.

Re: good idea

It was a good way to enjoy the summer out here while I was stranded from the mountains!

Re: good idea

I too am a Whitewater Kayaker. This looks like a great idea. The Royal Gorge of the Arkansas here in Colorado has lots of climbing spots and most easily accessed by kayak!

Sounds like a plan-- show us the pics!
