Approach

Start from D.L. Bliss State Park on Highway 89

Route Description

You cross highway 89 and start to climb. There is no trail. You will come across a creek that you can follow up to the saddle between Jakes Peak and peak 9269. At the saddle you will have to do a little rock scramnling to get over and down the saddle to the west side of the ridge. From the saddle go north over peak 9269 and then you will see the granite summit block of Rubicon Peak. On the west side of the summit block there is a class 2-3 scramble to the top.

Essential Gear

In the winter you will need snowshoes at a minimum. A ice axe might come in handy for self arrest as some of the slopes you traverse across are some what steep.
