Thanks for the detailed info on getting to the "trailhead!" The road is pretty nasty but I got my half-ton pickup to the park border without much trouble. However, followers be warned because the last mile or so is pretty overgrown and will scratch the bejeesus out of your paint job. Also, there was a ton of recent thinning of the trees going up to the border....any idea what that's for?
Glad the description was useful and still current. My thinking on the thinning is as a fire break, since no management is done in the park and any fire getting away there could cross onto Tribal lands, who do manage this resource. There is a lot of beetle kill in the area, so thinning pine is a good strategy to control it.
