Desert Tortoise

Desert Tortoise

The neighbors, not the grizzlies, black bears and elk we are used to, but they will do in a pinch. Our first sighting of 2008. Desert Tortoise, Red Cliffs Desert Reserve, April, 2008

Re: I made him...

Thanks Anya!...just got back from two long climbs in Red Rocks...Yucca blooms are disappearing now, but see the cacti are gearing up for a good flowering season....also, the yellow daisy looking??? bushy plants...wow, full bloom on descent from Black Velvet....saw a similar bush tree plant at Star, think they called it a daisy tree...anyway, incredible season in my opinion....cheers

Re: I made him...

Yes, the flowers are amazing this spring in Red Rocks. Pine Creek is all orange and yellow flowers everywhere. It's a surprise, we really didn't have that much rain. Just saw hundreds of white primroses today in First Creek area and Claret Cup cacti already in bloom up on the cliffs.

I think the bushes you mention are Goldenbush. Did they look like these? Cheers!
