Direttissima 5.8+ 9 Pitches

Direttissima 5.8+ 9 Pitches

7th Pitch. Direttissima, 5.8+, 9 Pitches, is best described in the new guide book Yamnuska Rock. This is a classic on Yam that the late Hans Gmoser put up and was the route for that time period. I climbed it July 13, 2006. We mixed in several 5.9 variations that are described in the book.

guidebook

Dow, when you say new guidebook, it's this one right:
50 Years of Climbing on Yamnuska
by Chic scott, Dave Dornian and Ben Gadd
from Rocky Mountain Books
ISBN 0-9211102-97-6

...this photo makes me really want to try climbing there!

Re: guidebook

although I know Chic and Ben well and this is a fantastic book about the stories and history of early break through climbing in the Canadian Rockies Radek, the new "guide" book you want is Andy Genereux's published in 2006. Andy puts a ton of time into his books as well as his own routes. "Yamnuska Rock", put out by RMB, Rocky Mountain Books. Of course you are welcome to borrow any of my guide books when you find yourself in Canmore. The old guide book we talk about is "Bow Valley Rock" which has an outdated section on Yam in it. Cheers.

Re: guidebook

Dow - thank you very much for the info. and the generous book loan offer! Guess I'm kind of a guidebook freak & so I ordered a copy already. Always nice to daydream over a guidebook. Best regards & thanks again!

Re: guidebook

well don't forget the free lodging option...quite a few on SP have taken advantage of it...nice to have a base in which to strike out from...as well as treat any potential wounds! Cheers
