Great shot

I really like this one and it is strange to see that someone has given this one 3's. Oh well, I'll do what I can to right a wrong.

Re: Great shot

Thanks. Someone went thru and voted down all of David's and my photos from our climb. It should get corrected overnight and I guess the guy was identified and warned.

Thanks for the vote and comments, Dean.

Congrats

Brian,

Nice work... know you are happy to get a route on that side of the mountain after a couple of false starts this Spring.

Be honest, how un-nerving was the climbing? Looks like you guys were pretty exposed.

Re: Congrats

The only couple of parts that got me thinking were the traverse on soft powdery snow right before the last gully (dkantola submitted a photo of me on it that mpbro made some comments about the angle). That felt like it could slide pretty easily under my feet.

The other part was a small narrow opening about 4 feet wide we took to avoid a gully with heavier icefall. The snow had melted and there was exposed rock and ice at about 70 degrees for maybe 10 feet that was a bit above the previously mentioned point. I don't have much experience with mixed stuff. I did take note of how far I would slide if I slipped there. :- )

But it was all pretty straight forward. The exposure was there but it was never unnerving. I really enjoyed it overall and would like to do more like it. I did use my shorter axe and a second ice tool though and felt pretty secure while David and Vincenzo were comfortable with just their axes.
