I know, I know, a Haleakala silversword is a quintissential drive-by experience, and not the choisiest spot for a glory shot. Still with 10,000 ft elevation gain over 24 partly-trailess miles from Polo Beach, this must my biggest mountain ever hiked.

But then, it was my wife who said, "it would make a great profile picture for you" ... so it must be not *that* bad huh?
