Dog Lake

Dog Lake

I think Dean has the same picture. Should be called "No Dog's allowed Lake". 3/20/10

Actually,

Dogs are allowed if you hike from Millcreek Canyon. Just don’t hike past Dog Lake down the other side of the ridge to Big Cottonwood Canyon and you’ll be fine. It’s just that you won’t see too many dogs here during winter. The lake was named after salamanders which the early Mormon pioneers called “Dog Fish”.

Re: Actually,

There you go again, spreading all that knowledge of yours around! I had no idea about how the lake got it's name. That is cool. Thanks for sharing! Yeah, I felt bad I couldn't bring my other buddy along on this hike. Thats one reason I don't do a whole lot down in the Cottonwoods. Pretty place and great peaks, but I really like to hike with my dog.
