Dome Rock
It was an easy hike for us, so large reward for minimal effort!

Quick Late Spring Hike
Approached from the north Tumble Ridge Trailhead off NF-2223. Had to park 0.3 mile [0.5 km] below trailhead due to snow. Trail was clear of snow though, a couple of small sections of trail have been washed out (nothing more than about 1 ft [0.3 m] and easy to cross). Nice little jaunt with a rewarding view.
Great views from the top, and a nice little workout for a hot September day.

Great winter hike
Because Hwy 22 is always clear / plowed, Dome Rock via Tumble Ridge Trail is a great hike in the winter. It offers a little of everything. I will always recommend you do this route in the summer before trying it in the winter because the trail disappears under the snow.

Second of Three
I ran out of time and into too much snow the first time I tried this from Detroit Lake earlier this year, so I tried it again from Knutson Saddle after a leisurely climb up Sardine. The view was kind of a letdown after Sardine but I am glad I finally bagged this one. Off to Tumble Rock...

Finally....Dome Rock
After looking at a picture of this for quite some time, it was really cool to actually walk around on top of this rock! Fun to see the surrounding rocks, which I hope to visit in the near future as well!

Clear warm skies.........We camped on the side of Breitenbush Gorge and wached the sunset behind Dome Rock. In the morning we drove as far as we could on road #2223. We were able to get within a half mile from the trail head. We started out on the trail but as soon as it dropped we scrambled the acual rocky ridge to the base of Dome Rock. Summited with a couple of Widmers, napped for an hour, then took the trail back. Beautiful day, nice (short) hike, fantastic views.
"Accidentally" climbed this one while scouting out Needle Rock with Mark. We had gone in to see about rock climbing on Needle Rock but backed off due to weather, runout route, unprotectability, etc. We then hiked up to the top of Dome Rock via the trail to see if we could get a better vantage point. There really isn't one though. Someday we'll be back there and will pound some pitons into that rock or something. There is webbing on Needle Rock so someone has climbed it!
Great views though and a neat area of the Oregon Cascades.
