DPS Class 3

This is the climb on the Northheast side of the false summit of Picacho. Photo courtesy cp0915. DPS calls this a "somewhat exposed 15 foot face of Class 3 rock." If you were to fall unbelayed, you might bounce once at the small ledges 40' below, but would then tumble down another 500' of nearly vertical rock. Personally, I would call it class 4 (as does asmrz), and would have no qualms about calling it "exposed." The moves are not difficult, but the holds are small, and reaching between them is tough for a short person. The wall has one perch, and above that is nearly vertical for about 8'. There is a bolt and hanger on top of this side of the summit, so a safe top-belay can be offered to the second. However, as the climber moves back and forth on the perch, it is easy to snag the rope on a protrusion of rock, and the belayer will be blind to this occurrence.
